British alt rock superstars Radiohead are performing a free concert at BBC Radio Theatre in central London on April 1st. The free concert coincides with the release of their new single "Nude" from their chart topping album In Rainbows. The concert is sponsored by BBC Radio 2 and fans can get tickets through BBC outlets and Radiohead's web site. 

The "Nude" single will include "4 Minute Warning" on the 7" and "Down is the New Up" on the CD version. Both tracks were previously only available on the In Rainbows box set. The band will be kicking off a worldwide tour May 5th in Florida. Earlier this year Radiohead gave a gift to their fans with a free New Year's Eve studio performance.

Flogging Molly headlines the Rock to Roll benefit show tonight at the Avalon in Hollywood. The event which is spearheaded by SideOneDummy Co-Founder Joe Sib will directly benefit the non-profit organization Wheels for Humanity.  The Wheels for Humanity mission is to provide increased self sufficiency and mobility to people with disabilities throughout the world, without regard to political affiliation, religious belief or ethnic identity. Also appearing on the bill are Bouncing Souls and Dead to Me. 

Born to a multi-cultural family Sacha Sacket blends classic Elton John inspired piano melodies with a hint of modern Depeche Mode electronic orchestration to create rich melodies that sound both classic and fresh at the same time. His songs vividly portray lives hanging in the balance between joy and heartache. Sacket is currently on tour promoting his latest album Lovers & Leaders You can catch him tonight at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica along with Great Glass Elevator and Stepsonday.

Pepper's dub rock style meshes to great effect the Aloha spirit of their native Hawaii with the ska-core/dub sound pioneered by Sublime. That style combined with relentless nationwide touring over the last decade has garnered Pepper a large and loyal following. Catch them tonight at the House of Blues - Anaheim and make sure to get there early to catch up and comers The Expendables and Passafire. 

Brett Dennen's music takes listeners on a trip back to the era of the great 70's singer/songwriters. His infectious songs instantly bring to mind Paul Simon but also easily fit in with contemporary tracks from the likes of Jack Johnson and David Gray.

Brett Dennen's music has recently been featured on a number of TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs, House, The Unit, and Men in Trees. He is currently on a nationwide tour in support of the John Butler Trio. You catch him tonight at The Grove in Anaheim, 4th and B in San Diego Friday, and the Orpheum - Los Angeles Saturday. 

Over the years All That Remains has steadily built upon the solid speed metal base that they displayed on their 2002 debut Behind Silence and Solitude. Their latest album The Fall of Ideals is a metal tour de force that fully displays their evolution.

The band is currently in the midst of a national tour supporting As I Lay Dying.  Both bands bring their metal virtuosity to The Wiltern tonight for a show that is sure to shake ever rafter in the historic venue. Also appearing on the bill are Haste the Day and Through the Eyes of the Dead.

Musicwerks Seattle presents a special evening of Goth and post punk influenced music tonight at El Corazon in Seattle. The lineup is headlined by the 80s Goth / New Wave pioneers Gene Loves Jezebel and includes Seattle favorites and epiTUNES Seattle Local Artist of the Day Romance, as well as Kirk Brandon and The Liars Club.

Romance is definitely a band to keep an eye. Michael Ribagain's bass lines are the driving force on songs such as "Paris is Burning" and "Guiltless." While Drew Jackson's baritone vocals, a cross between Peter Murphy and Killing Joke's Jaz Coleman, add a dramatic flair that truly makes Romance's songs standout in today's modern rock scene.

The band continues to build on their loyal following in the Northwest and appear set to make a major impact on the national scene. Their post punk sound could easily fit into an early 80s playlist alongside bands such as Killing Joke, Gang of Four, and even Bauhaus but also fits nicely alongside current New Wave revivalist bands such as The Killers, The Bravery, and The Faint. The Victory Records Tour touches down tonight at the House of Blues - Anaheim. The lineup includes Bayside, The Sleeping, A Day to Remember, Driver Side Impact, and today's Artist of the Day the Chicago based band June.

Get ready for a bloody good time tonight when Veritas takes the stage at the Halloween Block Party hosted by Flashrock Studios in North Hollywood tonight. Performing songs with titles like Monster, Lestat in the Stall, and 5 Black Skulls, you'd be hard pressed to find a band more suited to playing on Halloween. 

That said don't write Veritas off as a novelty band, they are far from it. Combing electronica with hints of Goth Metal and industrial rock the band is rapidly building a loyal fan base. Back in the mid-90s Abe Lincoln Story became the first band to earn a Monday night residency at Spaceland. After a six year hiatus the band has re-united as a 10 piece ensemble with full horn section.

Their unique sound is a mixture of soul, punk, and swing. In years past they have shared the stage with the likes of Beck, Weezer, and The Presidents of the USA never failing to get the fans hoping up and down for more. The chances of success appear promising given the fact that this is the most involved in a non-NIN recording that Trent Reznor has been in since Marilyn Manson's breakthrough album Antichrist Superstar. For those unfamiliar with Saul Williams music he is a former street poet who has opened up for Nine Inch Nails on several tours across North America and Europe. His music is loosely categorized as rap but is truly a cross genre blend of styles that is not easily pigeonholed into traditional music formats. Mixed by Alan Moulder the album is being promoted as a joint effort between Saul Williams and Trent Reznor. Williams describes the new album as "The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust! is the lovechild of Trent and me."

Foxhunter is one of those bands that sounds like they would have been equally at ease playing during the 1970s as they do today. They mix classic rock elements with 90s alternative riffs creating a timeless rock sound that you'd be hard pressed not to enjoy. Industrial rockers Mankind is Obsolete return to Hollywood tonight for a show at The Gig - Hollywood. The band is currently in the midst of a nationwide tour in support of their latest album Trapped Inside, which has served to announce to the world that MKIO as powerful new presence in the industrial landscape.

Founded in 2002 by drummer Jon Siren and lead singer Natasha Cox, the band has already built a substantial fan base from their performances opening for such bands as KMFDM, Collide, Pigface, Free Dominguez, Genitorturers, and Beautiful Creatures. Their latest album, produced by Jim Wood and Sylvia Massy, promises to help grow that fan base even further. 

It's time to get your Friday night groove on. Grievous Angels are playing at Taix Lounge on Sunset Boulevard tonight, which means the good times will be flowing. 

The nine piece band incorporates a wide array of instruments, lead guitar, bass guitar, rhythm guitar, drums, mandolin, violin, saxophone, pedal steel and percussion, forming what they describe as LA's funkiest folk band or its folkiest funk band. Whichever way you lean the end result is sound that could be described as a more relaxed Dave Mathews Band. The bottom line, this is a very talented band that knows how to entertain a crowd. Check them out.

Mathew Winters latest album Under Your Skin Like Splinters melds the indie rock/emo sounds of Bright Eyes with more traditional roots rock troubadours to create a sound that is both raw and gut wrenchingly heartfelt. Formed by former Tsunami Bomb members Jay Northington and Gabriel Lindeman, Nothington combines the punk attitude of Social Distortion with Southern Rock to create a down to earth, raw nerve sound that instantly captures and holds your attention. Creating epic rock songs that recall such post punk pioneers as Killing Joke and The Cult, Jupiter Crash is a musical force to be reckoned with. Delving head first into the darkly romantic and mysterious soundscapes created by the aforementioned post punk pioneers, Jupiter Crash is at once both reassuringly familiar and intoxicatingly edgy. Derek: I was singing at Schuss Mountain resort near Traverse City Michigan. I chipped my front tooth off on the microphone and shocked, I spit the piece into my hand mid-phrase. I finished the song, and the set.


e: If you’re life was a song, what song would it be?

Derek: "Bigger Than My Body" by John Mayer. I can't say that it's my favorite song, but it sums me up musically and lyrically. It has the right amount of funkiness, pop, drum/bass relationship. Lyrically, it uses some everyday words with exceptionally positive, hopeful metaphors. I'm an everyday guy with an
exceptional certainty of goodness, especially good that arises from adversity and discomfort.


e: Have you read any great books lately?

Derek: Yes. Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.

e: Do you support any charities?

Derek: Telling on Trixie donated money from performances this year to AIDS Walk New York and the American Cancer Society. Personally, I also strongly support my former employer- Sanctuary for Families.


e: If you could create your own fantasy music festival, who would the top 6 headliners be?

Derek: Telling on Trixie, Sheryl Crow, Fleetwood Mac, Duran Duran (Brad is going to kill me for saying them), U2 , Madonna (again, I'm going to get killed). Note: my bandmates and I vary greatly on this
answer.

e: Do you think Gwen Stefani can really sing?

Derek: Yes, she can definitely sing. I love No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom, but can't stand her any of her solo songwriting.

e: When and why did you stop believing in Santa?

Derek: I reluctantly stopped believing in him when my mother asked me in the same breath what I wanted from her and what I wanted from him.

e: What’s the one food you won’t eat under any circumstance?

Derek: Human.

e: What’s your favorite restaurant and why?

Derek: Babbo because it's expensive and across the street from my house.

e: Is cheerleading a sport?

Derek: GOD yes. Have you seen those national competitions on TV? Also, three years ago I was in Orlando at my yearly visit to Disneyworld and the national cheerleading competitions were there. The cheerleaders were practicing and preparing all over Lake Buena Vista. It tripled the energy in that area. Just watching them rehearse made me want to join in immediately. I had some choreographic tips that I found were not entirely welcome, however.

Tonight Terence Blanchard kicks off the first set of a four night engagement at the famous Catalina Bar & Grill in Hollywood. The Grammy nominated artist's latest album A Tale of God's Will is an emotional tour de force that reflects upon life in New Orleans as the city and it's people struggle to recover from Hurricane Katrina.

The album's roots lie in the soundtrack that Blanchard recorded in 2006 for Spike Lee's HBO documentary When the Levees Broke. Blanchard, a New Orleans native, takes several of those earlier pieces and expands upon them to tell the tale of the city, the calm before the storm, the fear as it hit, the anger at the catastrophe it became, the sorrow for the tragic losses, and ultimately the hope of an eternal fighting spirit.

The central voice throughout the album is Blanchard's trumpet playing which covers the gamet of human emotion, one moment calmly grooving to everyday life, the next spitting out rage, from heart wrenching sorrow to determined hope. His band comprised of pianist Aaron Parks, saxophonist Brice Winston, bassist Derrick Hodge, and drummer Kendrick Scott are equally adept with the end result being a stunning musical testament to a city and it's people. Definitely check them out when they are in town, you won't be disappointed.

Amateur Radio Operator's songs create rich visual tapestries as they gradually traverse their course, similar to the shifting of the sun as it makes its languid journey from sunrise to sunset. Lead singer Mark Johnson's voice brings to mind After the Gold Rush era Neil Young, while the mix of Kevin Suggs's pedal steel guitar and the rhythm guitar playing of John Faryar invoke comparisons to early Cowboy Junkies.

If you like alternative country / folk rock then Amateur Radio Operator is well worth checking out. Catch them tonight at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle, Washington. They appear on the same bill as the equally impressive roots rockers Westerly who are headlining in celebration of the debut of their full length debut album Rodeo. 

It safe to say that Radars to the Sky has the musical chops to be a card carrying member of the hip Silverlake music scene that includes such bands as Silversun Pickups and Irish transplants La Rocca. Formed in early 2006 the band released their debut EP in December of last year to excellent reviews.

Radars to the Sky combines the traditional indie rock guitar centered stylings of bands such as Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, and Guided By Voices with some more traditional rock elements and then throws in a bit of alternative country introspection along the lines of Wilco for good measure. You can catch the band live tonight at Boardners in Hollywood performing as part of the Radio Free Silver Lake bill that includes The Hectors and Tigers Can Bite You.

Bedouin Soundclash is currently on tour in support of their latest album Street Gospels. Despite being based in Toronto, Canada the band has managed to seamlessly capture the vibe of the Caribbean Islands and infuse it into their musical undertakings.

The trio mixes reggae, ska, dub and rock in a way that recalls not only blue-eyed predecessors like the Police and UB40, but Jamaican icons Desmond Dekker, Bob Andy, Ken Lazarus, Lee “Scratch” Perry and Junior Murvin. You can catch the Bedouin Soundclash performing tonight at Wonder Ballroom in Portland, Oregon along with fellow Canadians Hot Hot Heat.

The Supersuckers are getting ready for another one of their infamous crowd stealing performances at San Diego's Street Scene September 22nd. As a warm they are taking over the Velvet Jones stage tonight in Santa Barbara.

Known for their hard charging, high energy brand of indie rock, the Supersuckers have built a loyal following since their debut back in 1988. Of late the band has also been dabbling in alternative country. The new songs bring an earthiness to the table that ads a little extra flavor to their shows. Old fans need not worry though. A guaranteed good time by all is still part of every Supersuckers show.

Dov:        Why yes, actually we have. We had a great show at Joe's Pub in NYC a couple of weeks ago. The songs just seemed to flow and the audience really responded well. We also enjoy playing at NYC's Rockwood Music Hall. It's such an intimate, cozy venue and the band is practically on top of the audience. It's THE best place to play your music to connect to the crowd.
 
e:            What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you on stage?
Dov:         I started coughing in the middle of a song and could not sing through it. It's something every singer learns to do- sing through anything. But this one time I just could not hold back and coughed at every high note in the song and i had to just made a joke out of it.

e:            What's the last huge outdoor music festival you attended?
Dov:         Woodstock 95? It was so sad to see that peace and love turned into destruction and anger.
 
e:            What inspired you to write the song First Time Again…
Dov:         I wanted to write a song through the eyes of an ex-girlfriend who i had broken up with and then gotten back together with. it's a difficult thing to step back into a situation like that and restore your faith in someone and fall in love for the first time again.
 
e:            What's the most personal song you've ever written and what was it based on?
Dov:         I wrote a song when I proposed to my wife. i know, cliche. I honestly did not plan on writing her a song for the occassion but it just came out a day or 2 before I was planning on proposing because i obvioulsy had so many emotions running through my mind and body. I would never play it for anyone other than her. some songs are meant to be personal and private.

The Riverboat Gamblers are winding down a long summer of touring that has taken them from coast to coast and back again. Formed in 1997 in Denton, Texas, the Riverboat Gamblers have been touring extensively ever since, earning a reputation for raucous live shows that never fail to please.

The Panic Division combines soaring guitars with a heavy dose of keyboards to create multi-layered sonic blasts. Born out the remnants of post-hardcore/emo unit Carbon 12 Theory, the band's sound touches on progressive rock while maintaining a pop sensibility.

The Panic Division are currently wrapping up a mini-tour promoting their second album Songs from the Glasshouse. They headline tonight at The Viaduct in Tacoma, Washington and will be heading south to California for a trio of dates later this month. 

The Red Hearts provide a refreshing break from the formulaic pop punk that seems to dominate today's modern rock scene. Formed by Lenny Pops, of Morlocks and Brian Jonestown Massacre fame, in 2004, the Red Hearts are a rock 'n' roll four piece from Los Angeles that sounds like a time warp to the 70's golden age of pop punk.

Listening to songs like "Pirate Radio" and "More and Faster" instantly brings to mind the brilliance of Elvis Costello and the Jam. If you close your eyes you would swear a three headed monster of Costello, Paul Weller, and Stiv Bators were trying to channel their way through lead singer Pops vocal chords. The rest of the band, Danny, Dan Collins, and Eric Tretbar, is equal to the challenge  providing raw energy and riffs that command your attention. The Red Hearts are currently in the midst of a national tour taking them through the Southern US. You can catch them tonight at Burt's Tiki Lounge in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

Baxter House certainly does not settle for the ordinary when it comes to their music. Taking cues from art punk pioneers such as Bad Brains and X, the band explores many different sounds while maintaining a definitely punk attitude.  

To some garage rock may be a derisive term but those who share that attitude are clearly ignorant of the musical brilliance of famed garage rock bands The Stooges, New York Dolls and the numerous other bands of similar ilk. Rolling Blackouts embody all that is great about garage bands, passion, attitude, and loud guitars.

Rolling Blackouts headline tonight at Famima in Torrance, California and tomorrow at Club Sandwich in Los Angeles. One thing you can always count on with a great garage band is an even better live show so make sure to check them out.

One listen to old school style punk anthems like "Back to Higher Ground," "Bored Teenager," and "Song for Us" is all it takes to realize The Briggs are a band that remains true to their punk roots. Their music is an infectious concoction of rock, punk, oi!, folk and reggae that is just screaming to be heard by a wider audience.

The Briggs latest release Back to Higher Ground has received great reviews and is starting to get some major airplay on both online and terrestrial radio stations. They are in the midst of a nationwide tour that runs through October. You can experience The Briggs first hand tonight at Slim's in San Francisco along with tour mates Horrorpops.

The New York Post reports that Apple is in the process of building out their own ringtone service. The as yet unnamed service will be unveiled at Apple's September 5th media event where it is also expected that the new line of iPods will be debuted.

So far lack of ringtones has been a glaring omission on the hot iPhone product line. The service will allow users to buy ringtones through iTunes and convert existing song purchases into iPhone ringtones. Pricing details have yet to be revealed but songs from Universal Music Group will not be included in the service.

It appears that the tension between Universal and Apple continues to escalate. Universal previously announced that it's DRM free catalog will not be offered through iTunes. 

Beltaine's Fire musical style is unlike anything you've heard of before. Fusing traditional Irish and Scottish music with rock, folk, and rap elements, Beltaine's Fire has succeeded in creating a truly unique sound that is still instantly accessible. 

The group, consisting of Emcee Lynx (rap vocals, singing), Laura Noel (bass, backup vocals), Chris Darbyshire (drums), and John Dougal (Banjo), is rapidly gaining a loyal fan base in Northern California. They're performing tonight at Ireland's 32 in San Francisco and have a number of shows scheduled throughout NorCal in the month of September. 

Philpot was formed in 2000 by Kentz Ward, Josh Kennedy, and AJ Boone after the three friends attended an Oasis concert. The Oasis influence is clearly heard on "Fall" off their debut album Hate Writes Better Than Love. Josh Kennedy's empathy with the Gallagher brothers is also clearly seen in his recent interview with epiTUNES.

REM's influence can be heard as well in particular on "This Nation's Son" and "Waiting in the Rain." Overall Philpot has a strong heartland rock flavor but they clearly cannot be pigeonholed to one style. They are in the midst of a Midwest tour that will keep them on the road through October. They'll be playing at Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis tonight and the Rave in Milwaukee August 30.

Tony B has been building a solid following throughout Southern California since his arrival in LA in 2003. His music combines elements of rock, jazz, folk and country to create a relaxed groove that serves as the perfect accompaniment to his introspective lyrics. 

Tony B released his debut solo album Let's Go in 2006 to excellent reviews earning substantial airplay on college radio stations across the country. You can catch him tonight performing at Jimmy's Acoustic Courtyard in Hollywood. 

Brooklyn's legendary Gypsy punk band, Gogol Bordello, was recently named one of the top 20 live bands performing today by Rolling Stone magazine. Anyone who has seen them live will not be surprised the band made the list. To say they are a unique experience would be to grossly understate the obvious.

The band mixes Russian Gypsy music with touches of reggae and punk to create a sound unlike anything you've heard before. Their latest release Super Taranta! received glowing reviews and landed the band a spot on the Letterman show. You can catch them live tongiht at the House of Blues - San Diego along with DJ Scratchy and August 28th at Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood.

Deep Pocket embodies all that is great about local music. The electric blues/rock band has no pretensions of fame and fortune just a pure love of music that rings through every note they play. 

Lead singer Danielle Gorre has fiery stage presence and powerful voice that commands your attention. e:                What’s the last huge outdoor music festival you attended?
Zac:             Coachella 2006.

e:                What inspired you to write the song The Man Tyler by Toadies.
Zac:             I liked the dark elements in the song but often thought to myself that there is more to this than what are in the lyrics.  I imagined myself in the shoes of a stalker, and someone without remorse for their actions and saw no wrong in partaking in obviously deviant behavior.
 

e:                 What’s the most personal song you’ve ever written and what was it based  
                    on?
Zac:              A song called "Somebody Else's Lover" was written back in 1999 by myself and a former band mate in 20 Mine.  It was about an older woman, whom had been deemed my first love.  We had some ups and downs due to our difference in age, and eventually split for a short time.  The song moves about the period in which we tried the whole "date other people" thing, which obviously caused the demise of the relationship all together.  Was a very rough time for me, and was glad to get my feelings out into a song.

e:                If you could create your own fantasy music festival, who would the top
6 headliners be?
Zac:             This is tough because I have so many favorites.  Off the top of my head, and based on whats in my car changer....Jeff Buckley, Smashing Pumpkins, Sunny Day Real Estate, Tea Party, Journey, Jimmy Eat World.

e:                If you were a superhero what famous musician would be your
arch-nemesis and why?
Zac:             I can't really single one person out.  I would have to say it would be all these new tweeny pop bands from Disney.  The Mickey Mouse club versions of rock and pop, with 12 year old kids being dressed up like their in their 20s, and the producers dubbing in real musicians to make the music appear authentic.  Money talks doesn't it....
 
e:                Do you support any charities?
Zac:             I try to give back to a few every year, but hardly stick with the same organizations.  I've done Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Way, MS150 to name a few. 

e:                When and why did you stop believing in Santa?
Zac:             I honestly don't remember ever really believing in Santa.  I think the whole concept was lost early in my life.  I was more excited about my parents staying up past when I went to bed, to put presents out for me to wake up to.  :)

e:                David Johansen or Iggy Pop?
Zac:             HOLY SMOKES THIS IS TOUGH!!  Ok... I like the Stooges, and I like New York Dolls.  Bleh, I can't decide.  They both come from great bands.  I think we can all give a nice punk rock punch in the face to Johansen for his stint as Buster Poindexter though.  The "Hot Hot Hot" song was the worst!

Darius Lux calls his music soulful, thoughtful, rockin' urban pop and that is an apt description of his musical style. Darius grew up bouncing between London and New York and that mix of cultures clearly influences how he approaches songwriting.

His music is a melting pot of styles, 70s soul, 80s Euro pop, and 90s hip-hop with strong roots in traditional singer/songwriter fundamentals. Contemporary influences include Maroon 5, John Mayer, and Spearhead but elements of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and even James Brown can also be heard in Lux's music. Darius is playing tonight at the Viper Room in Hollywood.

The All Time Highs play the type of rip snorting anything goes rock 'n roll that has PTA moms trembling in fear.  epiTUNES:  What inspired you to write the song I believe?

 Peter:    My wife, Layla, has had a number of injuries, something like six   
 knee and one hip surgery. She's been through so much. The song is a   
 statement to her letting her know that haven't, and never would, give   
 up on her.

 epiTUNES:  Have you read any great books lately? 

 Peter: I just finished the new Harry Potter book. I'm a big geek who's   
 not too proud to say I loved it. A fitting end to the story. The best   
 book I've read in a while is " The Road" by Cormick McCarthy. It's a   
 super dark, end of the world page turner. There's a father/son   
 relationship in it that goes beyond beautiful. How this book ended up   
 in Oprah's book club I'll never know. There's not a fried green   
 tomato in it.

 epiTUNES:  What is your favorite magazine and why?

 Peter:  Well, I love the Onion. I guess it's more of a newspaper though.

 epiTUNES: What was the first album you ever bought?

 Peter: I saved up hard earned child cash from my Pop Rocks import/export   
 business and bought an Elvis record. This was in the bloated, white   
 jump suit days, for Elvis, not me. I played it over and over next to   
 Rick Wakemans " Journey to the Center of the Earth ". I was seven or   
 eight at the time.

 epiTUNES:  Do you support any charities?

 Peter:  I give to public radio. My wife handles the dispersant of cash.   
 Sometimes I'll see a charity that I want to give to only to find out   
 that Layla has already made a donation. I also end up playing a ton   
 of benefits. I guess I try to do what I can.

 epiTUNES:  What is your favorite physical record store?

 Peter: I just happen to live in the city , Louisville, with the best   
 record store in the country, Ear-sceneXtacy . Without Ear-Xtacy   
 louisville wouldn't have the strong music sceane that we're known for.

 epiTUNES:  Robocop vs. Terminator… who would win?

 Peter: Well, Robocop did have a human head. I suppose that would be his   
 weakness. Terminator had a heart of gold. I suppose that might have   
 been his weakness. I'd put Kit the talking car up against them both.   
 His only weaknesses are David Hasselhoff and soaring gas prices.

 Peter: Iggy Pop for me.

 Peter: Dude, I might be banished from being a former punk rocker, but I'm   
 here to tell you that the Dead wrote some pretty strong songs. Now if   
 you could only do something about those crappy burritos they served   
 in the parking lot.

 Peter: I read the Onion online. Oh, and Epitunes.
 

The Sprague Brothers roll into Hollywood tonight with their throwback rockabilly sound in tow. Heavily influenced by the likes of Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers and Bobby Fuller, the Sprague Brothers sound is instantly recognizable while remaining distinctly their own.

A little national exposure is likely all that is needed to turn Veritas  into a major player in the modern rock scene. Characterized by their high energy and dramatic theatrical sense the band, Thaipoon on bass, Jaime Rose on keyboards, Jason Sensation on drums, and The Will on lead vocals and guitars, is rapidly gaining a reputation for putting on must see live shows. 

The bands natural charisma was clearly evident on their recent interview with epiTUNES. Musically the band mixes riff driven modern rock with elements of electronica and industrial rock to form a sound that makes you stand up and pay attention. S.A.T.O.R.I., short for Sounds and Tempo of Real Inspiration, have been rocking audiences throughout California and Oregon for the last six years. Currently based in San Diego the band was formed in 2001 in the notorious college party town Chico, California.

Coming off their stint on this year's Warped Tour veteran ska-core band Buck O Nine kicks of a brand new headlining tour tonight at the  Knitting Factory - Los Angeles. Their latest release, Sustain, features 12 new songs ranging from super fast Ska-Punk stuff to some reggae influenced jams.

Buck O Nine has been entertaining fans for years with their high energy, bring the party live performances. If you're looking for a good time Buck O Nine is the perfect band for you.

Mixing elements of classic jazz chanteuses such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday with modern day hip hop, Amber Ojeda's songs bring to mind a hot steamy Tropical night. Songs such as "Don't Rush" and "Hear I Am" practically burst forth with an energy and sensuality that demand your attention.

Lizzy Williams takes a break from recording their new album for a show tonight at Jimmy's Acoustic Courtyard in LA. The singer/songwriter duo craft melodic tunes elegantly blending singer Liz Chaffe's vocals with guitarist David Williams acoustic stylings.

The pair is joined live by a revolving lineup of local musicians who add their own touches to the mix. Over the last few years the band has had a number of successful residencies, including last year's extended run at Pig 'N Whistle as well as their semi-regular engagement at the Rainbow Bar and Grill in Hollywood. Expect to see more performances by Lizzy Williams in the coming months as they prepare for the release of their latest album. 

The Darrin James Band recently released their debut album, Thrones of Gold, to stellar reviews. Singer/songwriter Darrin James's gravely voice easily transitions from Tom Waits style barnyard tales to Replacements style indie rock with various stops in between. 

The bands music covers a variety of musical territories that at times bring to mind Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and Robbie Robertson in addition to the aforementioned Waits and Replacements. The band is celebrating the release of their new album with a performance tonight at the Bitter End in New York. Also performing tonight are Eva Keretic, Paul Umbach, Joey Auch, Jared Campbell, and Ben Burton. 

Over the past decade Slightly Stoopid has been a model of success for indie bands to emulate. Their constant touring has earned them a large and loyal fan base that eagerly snaps up tickets whenever the band is in town. 

Despite working in the studio for most of 2007 on their latest album, Chronchitis- set to drop August 7th, Slightly Stoopid has already managed to complete a mini-tour of the US in April and a European tour this past May. Tonight they kick off their Summer Haze Tour in Costa Mesa, California at the Pacific Amphitheatre. G. Love & Special Sauce along with Ozomatli fill out the bill. Wtih that lineup you can take it to the bank that a good time will be had by all. 

Strung Out mixes metal musical virtuosity with punk attitude creating the sonic equivalent of an upper cut to the gut. Far from a painful experience their musical force simply takes your breath away. 

Over the years Strung Out has released 8 well received albums. They just returned from a month long series of European dates and is now starting their latest North American tour which will keep them on the road through the end of October. You can catch them performing tonight at the Glass House in Pomona and Saturday at the House of Blues - San Diego. 

Having recently reached the finals of the Emergenza International Music Festival contest, Escaping Zane returns to the stage tonight to headline the International Pop Overthrow show at the Knitting Factory - Los Angeles. The band mixes rock 'n roll with pop punk attitude to create an infectious mix of tunes like "Nowhere Fast" that fill the dance floor with bobbing heads and plenty of smiles.

Tonight's show also features Japanese pop punk favorites Lemon Drop Kick as well as Stepsonday, Service Group, The Bentleys, The Mayflowers, and Math and Science. You can see all those bands for just $10. You'll be hard pressed to find a better deal in Hollywood tonight.

The Street Dogs heartfelt alternative rock songs are hitting home with a growing legion of fans. Led by former Dropkick Murphy co-founder Mike McColgan, Street Dogs' songs are infused with punk energy and aren't afraid to speak openly about today's various political issues.

Known for their raucous live shows you can catch them along with The Tossers and Krum Bums tonight at the Galaxy Concert Theatre in Santa Ana and Thursday night at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. 

Relax to Paris effectively uses multiple layers of sound to create a dramatic backdrop for lead singer Ryan Gelber's vocals. Stylistically their songs bring to mind a number of bands ranging from Lightning Seeds and New Radicals to Maroon 5 and Pete Yorn.  

The band is currently in the studio working on a new EP due out later this summer. They're taking a brief break to perform tonight at the Troubadour in West Hollywood.  Also performing on the bill are A Cursive Memory and The Swivels.

Evil Twin is one of those bands that you swear you've heard before the second one their songs starts to play. Far from a knock on the band it is proof that they know their chops and can write songs that could fit onto a playlist from the 70s through present day. 

Their sound is a mashup of 70s punk pioneers such as the New York Dolls, 999, and Jim Carrol with 80s and 90s rock along the lines of Guns 'n Roses, the Cult, and Buckcherry. The end result is a completely infectious sound that deserves a large audience.

Evil Twin released their first full length album, Radio Salvation, late in 2006 and have been playing numerous dates in their native Northwest in support of it throughout 2007. You can catch them tonight playing at Seattle's oldest punk club Funhouse along with Mos Generator, Plaster, and Los Bastados. With any luck we'll be hearing a lot more from Evil Twin in the near future. 

Formed in 1988, Voodoo Glow Skulls meshed hardcore punk, traditional ska, tough guitar riffs and the Mexican music of their roots to create the prototype for the West Coast ska-core sound, influencing a wide range of bands from Sublime to No Doubt. 

Far from resting on their laurels the band continues to be a factor in today's music scene. They are preparing for their upcoming nationwide tour with a show tonight at Alex's Bar in Long Beach and Saturday at The Vibe in Riverside. Both shows are guaranteed to be high energy good time affairs. 

Brandon Raines performs tonight at Rhino's And Jock's in Round Rock, Texas. For those who haven't heard this talented musician yet you are truly missing out.

Although he is probably best described as a singer/songwriter that broad category only gives a hint of his remarkable musicianship.From the gut wrenching starkness of "The Darkside" to the guitar explosions of "Dime Trib" that bring to mind Diver Down era Eddie Van Halen, Raines is creating an outstanding musical legacy.

He's been performing bi-weekly shows throughout the year at Rhino's and Jock's but for those of us not in that neck of the woods we can only hope that goes out nationally soon. In the meantime you can take solace listening to him on epiTUNES.

Manic celebrates the release of their new EP Another New Home with a record release party and performance tonight at Cinespace. The band is riding a wave of success having preformed to packed houses at this year's SXSW show. The first single off the new EP "Carolina Ghost" is already getting airplay on the influential LA alternative rock station Indie 103.1 and is sure to be added to modern rock playlists around the country shortly.  

Manic's music is heavily influenced by the work of Pink Floyd. They create an ethereal mix of guitars and synths which is punctuated by lead singer Paul Gross's soaring vocals. Fans of The Church, Elbow, Calla, and even Radiohead will find much to like in Manic's music. Having recently signed to Interscope's Suretone label you can expect to hear much more from the band in the future. 

Combining lush synthesizers with atmospheric guitars and bass heavy rhythms, Solare creates modern rock that borders on pop but is grounded by the influence of such seminal alternative rock heroes as My Bloody Valentine and Flaming Lips. 

Solare’s lyrics primarily deal with scientific phenomena, nature and generally, things one might learn about on the Discovery Channel, but their easily accessible melodies mark them as a band that might make the jump to the next level of success. You can catch them performing tonight along with Eskimo Hunter, The Coral Sea, and Mezzanine Owls at Spaceland. The free show is definitely worth checking out. 

The .700 World Series Hip Hop Tour hits the Static Lounge in San Diego tonight with X-Kid headlining a packed bill that includes Alpha P, The Pirate Signal, Hollywood Kill & DJ Inform among others.

If you’re a fan of Old School rap, think Erik B and Rakim and old EPMD, then definitely check out X-Kid. His smooth delivery gets the flow going on the standout track "Mistreated" from his last offering The Tombz.  Horn and piano samples add to the album's cool vibe, which is further fleshed out by numerous guest appearances. Look for a new album from X-Kid to hit stores in the next few months. 

mutant press is one of those legendary punk bands that never found any real commercial success but has managed to stay alive in order to play for another day for years on end. The band is the brainchild of Jerome T. Youngman and over the last decade has served as the primary outlet for his politically charged songs.

For 30 + years Jerome has been playing and recording with various bands in Los Angeles, Detroit, and New York City. His musical travels started in elementary school in Detroit hanging out with Ted Nugent and have led to drunken Hollywood jam sessions with late 60's early 70's legends Canned Heat and Mothers of Invention to backing up Madonna in her early days on New York cable TV to touring with 80s legends Duran Duran, the Ramones and Killing Joke.

His sound has evolved over the years from thrashing guitar jams to Midi sequencer infused ditties to the current sound of mutant press, which can best be described as lying somewhere between late 70-'s era Iggy Pop and Gang of Four. Catch mutant press tonight performing at diPiazzas Restaurant and Lounge in Long Beach, California. You're in for a treat.

Ska is the dominant element in Shotgun Royale's music but these classically trained musicians also include jazz, rock, funk, reggae, hardcore, punk and especially oldies in all of their songs. Somehow the band manages to form all the elements into a cohesive sound that feels familiar but new at the same time.

Shotgun Royale is currently headlining the Ska is Undead Tour. The last time this Arizona based band was on tour they were known as BoneGun. No matter the name you can definitely count on the band to deliver a high energy performance aimed at bringing back music and dance as one package. You can catch them tonight performing at the Knitting Factory - Los Angeles, Thursday night at The Verity Room in Canoga Park, and Friday at Santa Fe Cafe in Fullerton before the tour moves onto the Bay Area. 

During his musical career legendary percussionist Francisco Aguabella has performed with a wide range of performers ranging from Frank Sinatra and Dizzy Gillespie to Carlos Santana and Paul Simon.

His passion and fire on the conga drums are contagious, filling whatever venue he performs at with an energy that envelops the audience. If you enjoy master musicianship then make sure to check out Francisco Aguabella's performance tonight at Spazio Jazz Supper Club.

Flickerstick is one of those bands that just flat out should own commercial radio airwaves and I don't mean that in a bad way. The band's music is chock full of catchy riffs, ear candy production, and high energy vocals. They should be that diamond in the ruff that jumps our every now and then from the sonic quagmire that is mainstream commercial radio.  

Given that they won VH1's Band on the Run contest and were armed with a Sony/Epic contract you would think Flickerstick would be a household name by now. However label apathy/mismanagement led the band to go the DIY route in 2003 and fans are much the richer for it. The band has been a touring machine while still finding the time to release two albums, Tarantula and Live from Atlanta. You can catch them tonight headlining at the Viper Room in Hollywood and July 15th at Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco. 

Palenke Soultribe combines synths with native instruments and drums to create a unique world beat sound definitely worth checking out. Their latest effort, entitled Tropic 'N Heaven, spans the spectrum of electronic music from break beats to ethereal reflections and on to world music heavily influenced by the bands native Columbian music. 

The band is currently in the middle of a run of New York gigs. You can catch them tonight at D Antigua in Jackson Heights and July 13th at La Oveja Negra in Long Island. The shows promise to be not only an extraordinary musical journey but also a visual tour de force. 

You know when the Mad Caddies are in town good times will be had by all. One listen to their music and you'll understand why. These California based rockers know how to party and they are more than willing to share the good vibe.

Formed in Santa Barbara in 2004, The Hairbrain Scheme incorporates new wave, jazz, hardcore, and classic rock into a sound that touches on pop rock and then zig zags towards the realm of Mr. Bungle before veering off towards Sublime. Needless to say this is not your average band which helps explain the eclectic group of bands/artists they have toured with including The Walkmen, Ima Robot, Busta Rhymes, Deadsy, RJD2, Damien Marley, and Mickey Avalon. 

The one constant with the band is their lively opening sets, which have consistently won over new fans no matter who they toured with. You can catch them tonight headlining at The Prospector in Long Beach and July 11th at Cobalt Cafe in Canoga Park, California. 

Better Chemistry describes their music as infectious, enveloping, and irresistible; one listen to 6 Foot Shorty and you'll be hard pressed to argue with them. Lying somewhere in the musical spectrum between Fishbone and Sublime with an occasional left turn into the The Specials or Bob Marley's backyard, Better Chemistry is a guaranteed good time.

However that good time vibe may on occasion be interrupted and give you pause to think about the world around you when their songs delve into the world political arena. In the tradition of the Wailers, Better Chemistry is able to speak their message while keeping the crowd grooving. You can catch them tonight at their regular Sunday night summer gig playing at T Phillips Ale House in La Verne, California. You won't be disappointed. 

With nods to the Velvet Underground and Iggy and Stooges, Darker My Love has crafted a sound that is quickly gaining a rabid following among alternative rock fans. They have a slightly heavier psychedelic sound than some of their more recognized contemporaries, such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and the Dandy Warhols, but fans of those bands should find a lot to like in Darker My Love. You can catch them headlining tonight at Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. 

Beltaine's Fire is that rare group that succeeds at combining seemingly disparate musical styles into an appealing new sound. The group fuses traditional Irish and Scottish music with rock, folk, and rap elements. The end result is a musical style unlike anything you've heard of before. You can catch the up and coming LA band Divisible tonight at the Knitting Factory - Los Angeles. The band, Shola on guitar and lead vocals, Albert on drums, and Jaysson on bass, recently released an EP titled Alchemy. 

Shola's haunting vocals and tales of relationships and heartaches are matched beautifully by the bands dark and moody instrumentation. However far from bleak sounding the songs convey a weather beaten but proud soul recalling the past and awaiting the future.

For the past ten years Jed has been creating dark, moody atmospheric metal, which has attracted a growing legion of fans. Their last release Synethesia received glowing reviews and furthered the bands reputation for crafting intricate and intelligent songs that standout when compared to most of today's cookie-cutter rock bands.

Jed recently kicked off their latest summer tour with several shows in their native state of Washington. The Riverboat Gamblers are in the midst of a tour thats taking them from coast to coast. Tonight they return to their roots with a show at Emo's in Austin, Texas. Formed in 1997 in Denton, Texas, the Riverboat Gamblers have been touring extensively ever since, earning a reputation for raucous live shows.

Modern rockers Sleeping at Last make a rare LA appearance tonight playing before what is sure to be a packed house at Fais Do Do. The Chicago based trio made waves back in 2003 with their hit single "Say". The release of their major label debut Ghosts that same year led to opening gigs for Billy Corgan's Zwan tour as well as subsequent tours with Switchfoot, Yellowcard, and Something Corporate.

The band released their follow up album Keep No Score last summer. Although always an active live band most of last year's shows were confined to the Midwest. This year they are hitting the road in a big way gaining new fans across the country.

Despite being based in Toronto, Canada Bedouin Soundclash has managed to seamlessly capture the island vibe and infuse it into their musical undertakings. The trio mixes reggae, ska, dub and rock in a way that recalls not only blue-eyed predecessors like the Police and UB40, but Jamaican icons Desmond Dekker, Bob Andy, Ken Lazarus, Lee “Scratch” Perry and Junior Murvin.

Bedouin Soundclash is currently traveling up and down the West Coast playing a series of dates with O.A.R. Definitely not to be confused with 80's synth pop or the current crop of New Wave revivalist bands, VCR uses their keyboards to create a high energy synth punk sound that is all their own. Think the manic energy of early Oingo Boingo, the quick cut beats of Devo, and the semi tongue in check attitude of the Misfits rolled into a giant bouncing ball of electronic blips and bleeps and you have some idea of where VCR is coming from.

Characterized by their high energy and dramatic theatrical sense Veritas is gaining a reputation for putting on must see live shows. That stage presence along with the excellent reviews that their debut EP The Red Hill Sessions garnered has the band up for a spot on this year's Lollapalooza stage.

If you're looking for some old school punk rock, think The Descendents, the Dead Boys, Social D, then The Johns are just the ticket. This Southern California quartet features former members of Die Hunns, The Pushers, The Grabbers, The Bleeders, The Crowd and The Adz. 

Bringing a blend of punk rock & roll to your ears it's no surprise these guys have been called one of the most refreshing bands to come out of Southern California in years. The Tall Birds definitely pack a sonic punch. Combining elements of the Velvet Underground and the Stooges with a little Sonic Youth added into the mix, the Tall Birds have developed a sound that is starting to attract a lot of attention.

Tall Birds features former members of the alternative rock band the Catheters. You can catch them tonight at the Comet Tavern in Seattle, Washington and June 30th at Slabtown in Portland, Oregon.

obsolete heart's stripped down songs, mainly guitar and drums with vocal duties traded between drummer Brittney and guitarist Sean, have a raw power that becomes increasingly infectious the more you listen. The band calls their musical style End Wave, which also happens to be the title of their debut EP. Frankly they can call it whatever they want. I call it damned good music. 

End Wave as performed by obsolete heart lies somewhere between Mudhoney and Sonic Youth. Pretty heady company, which is exactly why this band is drawing some significant attention in the alternative rock world. They are currently on the road in the midst of a tour taking them through the Southwestern United States. Catch them tonight at Zeppelin's Pub in El Paso, Texas. 

Formed in 2002 Manic is quartet of talented musicians based in LA. They are taking a break from putting the finishing touches on their new EP Another New Home to perform tonight at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. 

Manic's music is heavily influenced by the work of Pink Floyd. They create an ethereal mix of guitars and synths which is punctuated by lead singer Paul Gross's soaring vocals. The band is riding a wave of success having preformed to packed houses at this year's SXSW show in preparation for their major label debut out July 24th on Suretone/Interscope Records. Definitely a band to keep an eye on. 

Piebald is in a midst of a nationwide tour in support of their latest album Accidental Gentlemen. The emo-core veteran's fan base has continued to grow as their sound has evolved over the years.

Their latest offering sounds a bit like if you mashed up Ben Folds Five with the Flaming Lips.You can catch them tonight at Neumo's in Seattle, Washington and June 1st at Hawthorne Theatre in Portland, Orgeon.

Fishbone has served as an inspiration for thousands of bands over the years including alternative rock heroes Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their cover of Curtis Mayfileld's funk classic Freddie's Dead quickly became a standard at the "cool" college parties in the late 80s and their influence continues today.

Later this summer they will be performing on the California Warped Tour dates as well as a number of festivals around the world. You can catch them tonight at University Theatre in Las Vegas. 

The 70's punk DIY ethos pumps through the veins and oozes out of every pore of this Fullerton band. Audacity is a group of teenagers that sound like they took a time machine back to London or Cleveland circa 1978.

The band clearly takes inspiration from the likes of The Dead Boys and UK Subs. This year they've been working hard on building an audience the old fashioned way, by playing non-stop gigs.  You can catch them tonight with fellow punk rockers Mika Miko at The Clinic in Santa Ana.

Julie Moffitt winds down a busy Spring of touring with shows on May 24th at Cubby Bear and May 25th at Bird's Nest in Chicago. In February of this year Paste Magazine included her song "Let Him Be" on their CD Sampler, appearing alongside songs from The Shins and Lucinda Williams. 

Darius Lux calls his music soulful, thoughtful, rockin' urban pop and that is an apt description of his musical style. Darius grew up bouncing between London and New York and that mix of cultures clearly influences how he approaches songwriting.

His music is a melting pot of styles, 70s soul, 80s Euro pop, and 90s hip-hop with strong roots in traditional singer/songwriter fundamentals. Contemporary influences include Maroon 5, John Mayer, and Spearhead but elements of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and even James Brown can also be heard in Lux's music. Flogging Molly has been rocking audiences with their own unique take on Irish pub music since the early 90's. The seven piece band fronted by ex-Fastway lead singer Dave King is named after the Los Angeles pub Molly Malones where the band first preformed live.

Over their five studio albums the bands sound had evolved from more traditional Irish pub music to a mix of punk and alternative rock with a strong Irish accent. In 2006 they played to sold out crowds across the US as part of the SideOneDummy College Tour. Earlier this year they teamed up with fellow Irish rockers Street Dogs for the Green 17 Tour culminating in a wild St. Patrick's blowout show.

They kick off a mini US tour tonight with a gig at House of Blues - New Orleans. They're heading to Europe in June for a number of festivals and then return to the US in August as part of the 2007 Warped Tour.

Sounding a bit like what would happen if Screaming Trees and Guided By Voices merged to form a supergroup, Buffalo Roam is definitely worth checking out. Buffalo Roam's first full length album, The Gerry Record is full of songs like "Yup, Yes, Yeah," that combine intelligent lyricism with dark overtones that haunt the seemingly jaunty choruses. You can catch them tonight at The Fold @ El Cid in Los Angeles. 

The members of Hello Operator are clearly fans of the 80's New Wave sound. The five piece band, Mike Condo (vocals, guitar), Lee Campbell (drums), Craig Mailman (bass), Evan Huson (synth, vocals) and Justin Bunn (Lead Guitar), hails from Canada where they have received great acclaim including features on MTV, Much Music, and E Talk Daily.

Overall the band's sound fits in neatly alongside fellow New Wave revivalists The Bravery, The Killers, and The Faint with the biggest difference being their lack of The in the band name. On their song "55 Regrets" the keyboard fills are straight out of Greg Hawkes Cars' songbook, while on "She Lies Like the Devil" they add a little Plimsouls swagger to the mix.

Carmen Chiles continues her current Eastern US club tour with a date tonight at Cheeseburger In Paradise in Middletown, New York. Her songs cover a wide musical spectrum from jazz infused numbers to hip-hop flavorings and even modern rock.

For those of you haven't heard her music she has one of those sultry voices that flows effortlessly across a variety of musical styles. "Hear Me Feel Me Understand Me" is a beautifully understated number that could easily become a staple on adult contemporary radio while "It's Over" is a barn burner that could fall into heavy rotation on modern rock stations. Currently working on her first solo CD Carmen is definitely a performer to keep an eye in 2007.

Tita Lima is the headlining performer at tonight's Healing Notes "A Night in Ipanema" charity event at the NTC Promenade McMillin Companies Event Center in San Diego, California. In addition to Tita Lima's performance the event features some of San Diego's finest Latin cuisine and a silent auction All proceeds from the event will be donated to the music therapy program in the NICU at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

Tita’s Bossa Nova music has been showcased in Brazil, the United States and Europe. Her first solo album, titled 11:11, was recorded with an array of musicians and producers including Apollo 9, Andre Caccia Bava, and Bryan Velasco. Her recordings have become favorites among DJs like Rafael Moraes, Garth Trinidad, and Gilles Peterson, who included her song “A Conta Do Samba” in “Brownswood Bubblers” released in September 2006. She is clearly a rising star so if you're in the San Diego area tonight's event is truly a special occasion worthy of your participation.

The Goondocks are celebrating the release of their debut EP INTERNATIONAL METAMORPHOSIS with a free listening party and performance tonight at Pioneer Square Saloon in Seattle followed by a St. Patty's Day blowout at  Tommy's Nighclub. These Finnish bands are both pushing the musical envelope, albeit in wildly different manners. One minute 22-Pistepirkko sounds like a vintage synth band on songs like "Let the Romeo Bleed," the next minute your thinking alternative /grunge band as they break into "Rat King," the next thing you know your thrown into some weird 60's psychedelic trance as you listen to "I Knew" and "Just a Little Bit More." Eclectic and irreverent this band of Finns brings to mind Flamming Lips in attitude if not sound.

Alabaster is a Seattle based band that is determined to make it on their own stylistic terms. Lead singer Shane Killian’s vocals bring to mind Amy Lee of Evanescence but the bands musical style is a more of a mix of Veruca Salt and Linkin Park rather than the modern rock pop of Lee's band. 

Lyrically Alabaster isn't afraid to expose old wounds and those raw nerves provide a perfect platform for Joe Bosslet and Kate Orlowski’s dueling guitar attack. They are currently in the midst of a West Coast tour that has kept them on the road for the month of March. You can catch them tonight at  On The Y in Sacramento, Tuesday night at The Fat Cat in Modesto, and Wednesday at The VooDoo Lounge in San Jose, California. The next few months will continue to be busy ones for the band so sign up for the tour schedule to stay on top of when they are appearing in your city.

Romance could easily fit into an early 80s playlist alongside bands such as Killing Joke, Gang of Four, and even Bauhaus. Drew Jackson's baritone vocals sound like a cross between Peter Murphy and Killing Joke's Jaz Coleman.

Michael Ribagain's bass lines are the primary driving force on songs such as "Paris is Burning" and "Guiltless" but it is Jackson's vocals that add the dramatic touches that turns them into post punk epics. Romance is playing tonight along with early 80's cult favorite Gene Loves Jezebel at  El Corazon in Seattle, Washington. Definitely keep an eye and ear on this band as they record new material. They are building a loyal following in the Northwest and appear set to make a major impact on the national scene. 

Go Betty Go has punk attitude oozing from its pores but their songs are more about melody than thrash. Think Hole combined with Bikini Kill and the Bangles and then threw in a pinch of No Doubt for good measure. 

This Finnish band is definitely not one to be pigeonholed by one genre. If you like old school punk / art rock, think buzz guitars and big sing along choruses, then don't miss Soccermom tonight at the Lava Lounge in Hollywood, California. Soccermom sounds like they just stepped off the stage at CBGB's circa 1980.

Comprised of sax player Vondell Henderson and vocalist Mike J, 2Deep Vondell & Mike J are pioneering a new adult contemporary sound. This duo mixes R&B song structures with Jazz saxophone and sprinkles in a little Hip Hop attitude to give it all a little edge.

The end result are songs such as "SomeBody" and "Bed of Roses" that appeal to a wide spectrum of music lovers. With Mike J's smooth vocal delivery serving as the perfect compliment to Vondell's sax leads, 2Deep Vondell & Mike J's live shows are generating quite a buzz. The Transit War

The Transit War is once again in the midst of a nationwide tour supporting their latest album Miss Your Face. Sharing some of the same musical sensibilities as their fellow San Diegans Switchfoot, The Transit War is working hard to make a name for themselves.

Over the last decade Pepper's relentless nationwide touring has built a large and loyal following. Their dub rock style meshes to great effect the Aloha spirit of their native Hawaii with the ska-core/dub sound pioneered by Sublime.

In 2006 they teamed with Slightly Stoopid on a massive nationwide tour that had fans lining up for more. On tap for 2007 is a similarly inspired pairing with the Mad Caddies as their partners in crime. The combo kicks off their nationwide tour with two dates at the House of Blues - San Diego February 14th and 15th. epiTUNES is featuring both bands on the Chill mix online radio station as well as on this week's Best of the Week epiCAST podcast. 

Sounding a bit like what would happen if Screaming Trees and Guided By Voices merged to form a supergroup, Buffalo Roam is definitely worth checking out. They recently released their first full length album, The Gerry Record, and are playing a series of dates in LA over the next two months to promote it. 

The Gerry Record is full of songs like "Yup, Yes, Yeah," that combine intelligent lyricism with dark overtones that haunt the seemingly jaunty choruses. James Stein's brooding vocals serve as the centerpiece to the bands bass and jangle guitar driven songs. You can check out Buffalo Roam tonight at the Tangier Lounge in Los Feliz. 

The Red Hearts are a rock 'n' roll four piece from Los Angeles that is quickly gaining a loyal following. Formed by Lenny Pops (Morlocks, ex-Brian Jonestown Massacre) in 2004, the Red Hearts are known for their catchy/punky songs and thier wild shows.

Listening to songs like "Pirate Radio" and "More and Faster" feels like a time warp to the late 70's and the brilliance of Elvis Costello and the Jam. If you close your eyes you would swear a three headed monster of Costello, Paul Weller, and Stiv Bators were trying to channel their way through lead singer Lenny Pops vocal chords. This is definitely a band making noise in all the right ways. Check them out tonight at the Viper Room in Hollywood, Que Sera in Long Beach Friday and Safari Sam's in Hollywood Saturday the 17th. Carmen Chiles has one of those sultry voices that flows effortlessly across a variety of musical styles. Her songs cover a wide musical spectrum from jazz infused numbers to hip-hop flavorings and even modern rock. She is definitely a performer to keep an eye. You can catch her tonight and the following two Sundays performing at Marmont in Philadelphia.

Formed in November of 2006 the Alex Skuby Project is a singer/songwriter collaboration between Alex Skuby and Steve Peretiatko. Peretiako's piano sets the tone for Skuby's stark tales of hard bitten characters journeying through life.

A few bottles of Cabernet and a shot of whiskey are the perfect accompaniment to their gritty tales. Check them out tonight at 14 Below in Santa Monica, California. 

The Los Angeles based band Radars to the Sky formed in early 2006 and released their debut EP in December of last year. They combine the traditional indie rock guitar centered, multiple-part stylings of bands such as Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, and Pavement with some more traditional rock elements and then throw in a bit of alternative country introspection along the lines of Wilco to form their very own indie rock perspective.

If you're a country fan and haven't checked out Mary White yet then you better get on board quickly. Adding elements such as wailing sax to traditional country songwriting, Mary White has crafted a sound that has her booked throughout SoCal for the next few months.

Embracing the spirit of DIY, Mat Kyle and Cameron Chuck of Audacity have spent the last few years crafting their own version of late 70's style punk. Definitely lo-fi and raw, Audacity captures the spirit of the original British punk scene while avoiding simply rehashing the songs of that era.

They are starting to gain a loyal following in the SoCal alternative and punk scenes. You can catch them tonight at the Plush Cafe in Fullerton, California and the 10th performing at the Spring Kick Off Festival at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Julie Moffitt brings her jazz infused piano and guitar stylings to Wise Fool's Pub in Chicago tonight. Those of you who attended this past year's SXSW may remember Julie Moffitt's songs, which are vaguely reminiscent of Jewel but with a bigger jazz than folk element.

Her songs range in spirit from melancholy to optimistic, but are always reflective and honest. She has a number of upcoming shows so sign up for her concert schedule to make sure you catch her when she comes to your neck of the woods.

Mixing stylistic elements of bands such as Sonic Youth and Mudhoney, obsolete heart has developed a sound that is attracting attention in the alternative rock world. Their stripped down songs, mainly guitar and drums with vocal duties traded between drummer Brittney and guitarist Sean, have a raw power that becomes increasingly infectious the more you listen. You can catch them tonight at the Lava Lounge in Hollywood as they prepare for their upcoming shows at SXSW in March.

Taking stylistic cues from bands such as Motorhead, AC/DC, and Judas Priest, Spades & Blades plays in your face, take no prisoners hard rock. Songs like "I'm the One" leave little to doubt that this band has what it takes to make some noise in the burgeoning SoCal hard rock/heavy metal scene.

Divisible is an alternative band that is attracting a lot of attention in the SoCal music scene. Their tales of relationships and heartaches instantly bring to mind PJ Harvey but don't write off Divisible as just a copycat band. Their new EP Alchemy displays an evolving sound and is well worth giving a listen.

Since 2003 Run Doris Run has been punching out heavy hitting, up-beat songs, such as "Never Gonna Come Back" and "I Am the Lie."  Their recently finished CD, Five More Songs & You Can Go Home, is now available to the public.

"We wanted to make a CD that sounded good not only to the fans, but to us. We knew that if we all liked it, it would be worth releasing," says lead singer Ryan Koppel.  They are currently on a mini-tour in support of the their new CD. The Fine Print is a punk infused alternative rock band from Southern California. Composed of singer Malcolm Gordon, guitarists Michael Raimi and Saud Siddiqui, bassist Matthew Gordon and drummer Josh Smith The Fine Print is the first serious effort from the same nucleus that made up the former parody emo band Omnitone Silvervision.

BoneGun is all about bringing back music and dance as one package. This five-piece band has had audiences groovin' and shakin' since 2005. BoneGun's music brings in influences from virtually every musical genre.

Ska is the main attraction but these classically trained musicians are sure to include jazz, rock, funk, reggae, hardcore, punk and especially oldies in all of their songs.The chemistry between Logan (guitar/vox), Jonathan (T-Bone/Keys), Chris (bass), Fernando (drums) and James (Tenor Sax) brings the seemingly disparate musical styles together in one cohesive ass shaking party. You can catch them January 27th at Dry River in Tucson, Arizona. 

Died in the wool rock fans will love Judge Jackson. From acoustic ballads to powerchord driven head bangers, Judge Jackson has rock 'n roll pumping through their veins.

These rock veterans have been a getting a good amount of airplay on TV of late. You may have heard "Times Been Changin," on NBC's show My Name is Earl or on the Speed Channel's NASCAR program Victory Lane, which uses "King" as its theme song.  "King" is also featured on epiTUNES new Hard Rock Online Radio Station. You can catch Judge Jackson tonight at Harpers Bar & Grill in Northridge, California.

Go Betty Go has punk attitude oozing from its pores but there songs are more about melody than thrash. If you combined Hole, Bikini Kill, and the Bangles, and then threw in a pinch of No Doubt for good measure you would come pretty close to capturing the sound of Go Betty Go. 

They're currently on the Side One Dummy Records label and looked poised to make some big noise in 2007. You can catch them tonight at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California.

Avail has seen it all having toured extensively for the better part of the last fifteen years. In that time they released a string of legendary punk albums including, Over the James, Satiate, and 4AM Friday on Lookout Records. 

Avail's style is one of constant flux moving from three-chord thrash into sing-songy pop punk that can morph into a growling mosh that sometimes breaks into a 70's rock-sounding chorus. It's this ability to destroy genre barriers without sounding contrived or schizoid that's become Avail's trademark. They recently returned from playing a series of dates in Australia and are now in the midst of a West Coast tour. You can catch them tonight at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, California.

Their latest release Back to Higher Ground has received great reviews and is starting to get some major airplay on both online and terrestrial radio stations. You can catch them tonight playing at the Dive Bar in Las Vegas. 

If you're looking for some old school punk rock, think The Descendents, the Dead Boys, Social D, then The Johns are just the ticket. This Southern California quartet features former members of Die Hunns, The Pushers, The Grabbers, The Bleeders, The Crowd and The Adz. 

Bringing a blend of punk rock & roll to your ears it's no surprise these guys have been called one of the most refreshing bands to come out of Southern California in years. You can catch them tonight at Surly Wench Pub in Tuscon, Arizona.

Far from your typical singer songwriter Tanner Horn and his band combine an eclectic mix of instruments and styles to form a sound that defies being categorized.

The Silversun Pickups make a triumphant return to Los Angeles after an extensive nationwide tour opening for Wolfmother. They will be playing a special homecoming show tonight at the Troubadour in West Hollywood.

If you haven't caught the buzz on this Los Angeles based band you will soon. Silversun Pickups' latest release Carnavas has received glowing reviews drawing comparisons to early Smashing Pumpkins with elements of the Pixies and My Bloody Valentine thrown in for good measure. Formed in 1988, Voodoo Glow Skulls meshed hardcore punk, traditional ska, tough guitar riffs and the Mexican music of their roots to create the prototype for the West Coast ska-core sound, influencing a wide range of bands from Sublime to No Doubt. New York City’s legendary Gypsy punk band, Gogol Bordello, kicks off there California tour with Primus tonight at the Berkeley Community Theatre. There current release, “GYPSY PUNKS: Underdog World Strike,” was produced by Steve Albini of Nirvana fame and mixes in a little reggae with Gogol Bordello's unique Gypsy punk sound. You've seen them belting (and cursing) there way through Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” in the hit movie Old School and crooning Roberta Flack’s “Feel Like Making Love” to a 13 year old girl at her bat mitzvah in Starsky and Hutch, complete with bad-ass red Afro. Now you can see The Dan Band in all their glory as they embark on a nationwide touring starting November 29 at Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, Florida.

These guys put on quite the show with makeup, synchronized head swirls by the guitarist, bassist and vocalist, and pulverizing vocals. They may look scary on stage, but off stage are some of the coolest people I've met, as they hung after their set, throwing back cheap vodka at The Rainbow and taking in the scene. I heard they are coming back this summer for Sounds of the Underground tour. I highly recommend you check them out. Their music is interesting and not just your standard metal for the masses.
