Tall Birds

Rising up from the ashes of The Catheters like a phoenix are Tall Birds. A decidedly more melodic and compositionally complex outfit, Tall Birds features former Catheters singer / interpretive dancer Brian Standeford on wrenching squall guitar and vocals,  exotic newcomer Jiancarlo Cateriano on viscous bass throb, and of course the ever present presence of ex-Catheter Davey Brozowski, hitting the skins like HEAVY, and not just primal punk-like, but with brains and groove and ingenuity. Tall Birds’ music lies somewhere between the classic realm of rock luminaries like Love, The Byrds, Rolling Stones, and The Velvet Underground, while still desperately stretching toward far-out sounds a la Royal Trux, Monoshock, Sonic Youth and other more modern avant-axe stranglers. A heavy brew of influences to be sure, but a challenge not to be taken likely by this new Seattle based quartet. ---Paul Hymen, June, 2006

Long live 70's garage punk

Posted by cold99 on Oct 29th, 2007
Iggy and the Stooges are alive and being channeled through The Tall Birds. Seriously these guys sound gritty and dirty with a little psychedelic fuzz, totally reminds me of the Stooges. Can't wait to see these guys live.
