Sacha Sacket

Opulent sweeps of piano-driven orchestration frame the charmingly introspective persona and evocative voice of Los Angeles based singer/songwriter Sacha Sacket on his third independently released full-length album entitled, Lovers & Leaders.

On Lovers & Leaders, simplistic acoustics and strong pop currents underscore a prominent theme of emotional vulnerability, surrender and acceptance. “Although it’s a love album, the outlook is really more about my battle not to succumb to it,” notes Sacket. “I equate love with losing power, losing my goals and aspirations. This album reflects my journey in finding the balance of honoring someone else while honoring myself.”

As diverse as the characters that inspired it, Sacha’s emotive lyrics on Lovers & Leaders explore the freedom that comes through love, the nobility of leadership, and the devastating impact of the lack of either. Fans of Sacket’s confessional songwriting will immediately recognize the classically influenced melodies that are at the heart of the composer’s polished musicality. Lyrically, he stretches beyond the internal scrutiny of self-examination to etch distinct portraits of others with crystalline clarity: A disillusioned lover watches the runway recede from an ascending jet as she recalls “days of legs and sheets and lips” in “How Low?” An obsessive friend, “Judy (for shame)," dries roses and arranges dolls in rows on her bed, and in “Brandon Boyd,” the entitled “cool kids” intone threats to “keep the fat chicks and the fags in line.” Sacket’s gift is not only to breathe life into these characters, but also to reveal their humanity.

Sacket, who was born in Tehran, Iran to a multi-cultural family - his father is Iranian and his mother of British decent - was only a one year old when his parents moved him to Los Angeles. Sacha is a self-trained classical pianist who likes to perform with the acoustic piano as well as electric keyboards, synthesizers, and organ. As one of the more unique, piano-driven artists in the rock field using keyboards as a driving force on his recordings, Sacha’s elegantly rolling piano melodies and rock-steady style has been compared to the likes of Elton John and his poignantly romantic lyrics and edgy songwriting to the likes of Coldplay , Fiona Apple and Rufus Wainwright.

With Lovers & Leaders, even though Sacket confronts emotional territory and uses romantic odes to feed his muse, his position is one of strength. “I’m not crying, walking down the street or anything,” Sacha laughs. “My music balances me. It’s a super shot, an ‘espresso’ shot of me. In my music, I say things that I’ve never said to anybody. It’s private stuff that I don’t really talk about: except to the world.”

Poised to redefine his genre both onstage and on the airwaves, the heart-warming singer with a gift for compelling melodies has made Sacket one of the most original creative forces to emerge out of Los Angeles in years. Having been lauded as "brilliant” by more than one tastemaker, Lovers & Leaders first single “Judy,” highlights Sacket’s stylistic vocal and adventurous spirit and is expected to elevate the professional hallmark of this extraordinary songwriter.
