Romance

Bringing the sense of danger back to dark dance music, Romance combines the psychedelic fluidity of early post-punk bands with the intensity of current indie rock. Producing music with elements of The Chameleons, Joy Division, and The Sound.

Forming in late 2005, ROMANCE struck a nerve with music fans. KEXP, one of the nations best independent radio stations, quickly jumped on the bands debut EP, WHEN THINGS ARE BETTER, putting it in regular rotation. Led by their hit single "Paris Is Burning" this was soon followed by many independent radio stations. Readers of THE STRANGER, Seattle's premier music and arts weekly, voted ROMANCE one of the top four up and coming bands in the city. This culminated in many high profile shows including being invited to play the Bumbershoot Music Festival.

Recently they have had a line up change with the addition of new drummer Joshua Fant (ex-Post Stardom Depression). Their debut full length CD "The Divide" is due to be released in the fall of 2008.

Romance Creates Post Punk Epics

Posted by toren on Nov 10th, 2007
Romance could easily fit into an early 80s playlist alongside bands such as Killing Joke, Gang of Four, and even Bauhaus. Drew Jackson's baritone vocals sound like a cross between Peter Murphy and Killing Joke's Jaz Coleman. Michael Ribagain's bass lines are the primary driving force on songs such as "Paris is Burning" and "Guiltless" but it is Jackson's vocals that add the dramatic touches that turns them into post punk epics.Romance Creating Post Punk Epics
